The number of homophobic hate crimes in London has risen by 18 per cent since last year, Scotland Yard figures show.

According to the statistics, 1,192 homophobic offences were recorded in the 12 months to September this year. Compared with 1,008 in the same period last year, this is a rise of 18.3 per cent.

The news comes just a week after the death of Ian Baynham, the 62-year-old gay man who was attacked by teenagers in Trafalgar Square. Three people have been charged with his manslaughter.

Police have described the rise as a positive sign, pointing to increased levels of reporting homophobic hate crime.

In July, figures showed an 13.5 per cent rise in gay-hate crime in the last 12 months.

At the time, the head of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Paul Stephenson, said that this was due to increased confidence in police but said more gays and lesbians who have been victims of such attacks must come forward.

Speaking at a press conference after the results were released, he said: "Do I think hate crimes are still going unreported? Absolutely, absolutely.
"There has always been under-reporting of crime, particularly sex crime. We know there's been massive under-reporting of that offence for many, many years. And that's because victims felt further victimised and traumatised not just by the criminal justice system but also the police. We have improved what we do dramatically."

Gay Support for Conservatives plummets Re:- PinkNews

PinkNews.co.uk have conducted a 'straw poll' survey of more than 600 lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans readers has found that support has plummeted for the Conservative Party.

This week the first ever Conservative Conference Pride was held, yet PinkNews found that only 22 per cent of respondents would vote Tory if there was a general election tomorrow, compared to 36 per cent who said they would vote Labour. Twenty-five per cent said they would vote Liberal Democrat.

The results are a complete reversal of a similar poll conducted by PinkNews in June, ahead of the European Elections. Then, 39 per cent would vote Tory in a general election, compared to 29 per cent who said they would Labour.

In June, a similar number of gay persons said the Conservative party had not changed since the days of Section 28. Then, 63 per cent said the party was still homophobic, while 37 per cent said it was not.

This week, Tory leader David Cameron invited Polish MEP Michal Kaminski, who has been accused of homophobia, to speak at the party's annual conference.

Stonewall chief Ben Summerskill boycotted a gay Tory event in protest over the invitation, describing Kaminski's views as "extreme and offensive". Kaminski, who is the president of the Tories' new European bloc, has denied being homophobic but admits he is not in favour of gay marriage and gay adoption.

The PinkNews poll asked readers whether they thought Cameron was wrong to share a platform with Kaminski. An overwhelming majority (81 per cent) said they thought he was. Only 16 per cent thought the invitation was not wrong.

Summerskill's decision to boycott Conference Pride over Kaminski's invitation led to gay Tory activists booing him at a Stonewall fringe event. However, 55 per cent of our readers said he was correct to withdraw from the event, compared to 37 per cent who said he was not.

PinkNews.co.uk surveyed 603 lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans readers between 4pm yesterday and 2pm today. All respondents who described themselves as straight were eliminated from the survey.

What gay rights policies will a Tory government deliver?

"David Cameron is all talk and no action on gay rights. I challenge him to back up his gay-friendly words with concrete policies to end the remaining vestiges of homophobic discrimination. So far, he has not promised a single new policy for gay equality," said human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell of LGBT group OutRage!

Mr Tatchell was speaking on the opening day of the Tory party annual conference, which is taking place in Manchester.

"The Conservatives will never be taken seriously as defenders of gay human rights unless they promise concrete policies for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. We don't know what a Tory government would do because David Cameron offers only vague generalities, not policy specifics," added Mr Tatchell.

"Mr Cameron has a poor voting record on gay issues. Only last year voted to deny lesbian couples equal access to IVF fertility treatment. In 2003, he voted to retain Section 28.

"My challenge to David Cameron is this: what legal reforms will you pledge to the lesbian and gay community? What would you do, as Prime Minister, to end the homophobic discrimination that Gordon Brown is refusing to abolish?

"The LGBT community wants to know whether a Conservative governmet would:

"Amend the Equality Bill to protect LGBT people against harassment.

"Repeal the ban on same-sex civil marriage and on opposite-sex civil partnerships.

"End the blanket, lifetime prohibition on gay and bisexual men donating blood.

"Cancel Labour's proposal to allow faith schools to teach sex and relationship education in accordance with their own religious ethos, which usually condemns same-sex couples as sinful, immoral, unnatural and inferior.

"Withdraw from the European Parliament alliance with the homophobic Polish Law and Justice Party, Dutch Christian Union and Latvian Fatherland and Freedom Party.

"Refuse visas and work permits to Jamaican reggae singers, like Bounty Killer and Buju Banton, who incite the murder of LGBT people.

"Halt the deportation of geniune LGBT asylum seekers to violently homophobic countries like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jamaica, Iran and Uganda.

"Urge the police and CPS to prosecute record stores and radio stations that promote songs encouraging the killing of LGBTs.

"These are eight specific examples of on-going gay inequality. Will David Cameron get rid of them or will he retain them? Until he assures us that these discriminations will be ended by a Conservative government, Mr Cameron will not deserve the support of the lesbian and gay community," said Mr Tatchell.

Pink Pasty:- I would add to Mr Tatchell's list a much needed overhaul of the homophobic attitudes & practises which remain protected within police forces like that of the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, under the comand of Chief Constable Steven Otter. The IPCC is grossly ineffectual in either grasping the impact & affect of homophobic police officers & their prejudicial conduct towards LGBT persons.

Cornwall Police then attempted to prosecute me for photographs taken by Simon Read, a student then resident in my mothers home. Simon Read (openly gay) admitted taking the photographs of 16yr old John Smith (bisexual) & my former partner Rob Mann naked together! All three were resident in the same home as myself at the time in Jan 2004.

The corrupt Cornwall police withheld from court numerous witness statements regarding access to a computer by other residents also living in the house, namely John Smith, Simon Read & Robert Mann & other use of computer equipment by numerous other visitors to the house.

The law as it stood then in Jan 2004, was the legal age for an explicit nude photograph, was 16 yrs of age (pre May 2004) (That’s how the Sun newspaper was able to print all those page three pictures of tits of 16yr old girls up until May 2004).

The photographs taken by Simon Read were lawful
John Smith was over 16yrs of age (age of equal consent effective Jan 1st 2001) and was legal, as the age of an indecent photograph did not rise from 16 to 18yrs of age until 1st May 2004.

Nudity in itself is NOT indecent, however in the photograph taken by Simon Read, Robert Mann has an erection clearly visible, pressed against 16yr old John Smith. Since the photographs were both lawful & legal as both parties were over the age of consent & over the age of what would be considered an indecent photograph, NO OFFENCE was committed.

Robert Mann out of fear of homophobic Cornwall police conduct declined to give evidence regarding the photographs of him & John Smith.
Simon Read declined to give evidence regarding the photographs he took of Robert Mann & John Smith due to concerns he had about police reaction to his homosexual relationships with youths Peter Midwood & Danny Tresidder.

This enabled Cornwall police to continue their relentless homophobic conduct & practises through police withholding evidence, lying, and failure of duty of care & embedded homophobic attitudes & practises, which led directly to my attempted suicide.

Police subsequently destroyed both my businesses through their continued homophobic campaign, following my two suicide attempts I now live on incapacity benefit, now suffer from a form of agoraphobia, severe anxiety & depression & no longer drive due to relentless police targeting & only leaving my rural home in the company of a escort career witness, due to repeated police homophobic victimisation

I have very, very good reason to hate & despise the Cornwall police officers named in this blog for their homophobic attitudes & practises, which so nearly directly resulted in my death.

LGBT HOMELESSNESS & INSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY ABUSE!

The Pink Pasty received ths letter today from Omar Kuddus, who has contributed enormously to fighting for the rights of genuine LGBT asylum seekers, but is raising issues regarding LGBT homelessness in the UK.

Dear Sir,

As you are well aware, I have devoted a large portion of my life fighting for the rights of asylum seekers, who were persecuted in their homeland for their sexuality, only to find themselves faced with further barriers when they came to the institution, known as the British Home Office.

However I have for the past few years, your and individual reports seen a growing trend, where LGBT’s are discriminated by and face unnecessary persecution and hurdles from their local authorities/ councils, in particular with their housing needs.

Apparently, though everyone is aware of the problem, and in fact even highlighted by the queen in a recent Christmas speech, central government policy and especially the variance between local and central governmental policies, is alarming, as scores of LGBT (and disabled) individuals are falling through the gaps that surround the issue.

Perhaps it is time for grievances unspoken, burdens gone unprotected, a destiny submitted to and endured, to be aired, and something done in regards to this issue.

I saw the other day, an individual, that though British and entitled to the protection of all soveren and statutory rights, who has been homeless and in and out of the system, pushed and passed from pillar to post, for years, and it was as if I was seeing someone I did not know or recognize. He had drooping cheeks, eyelids that sagged in the tired folds, deep lines that framed his mouth, and alarming state of hopelessness and abandonment, despite him trying to disguise the appearance in a mop of salt and peppered hair and a false smile of contentment, and all in a person barely past his youth. It was as if I was seeing the face of a stranger for the first time and realising it was his refection and not of an adversary, I was horrified. The toil that the past few years had taken on him were visibly there as are the consequences and effects of having lost his peace of mind, along with the stability of his home and life, to protect and facilitate, what goal? For what purpose, had he been abandoned?

I told myself to be quite, and pretend like everyone else that the issue does not concern me or my problem and being a martyr to the cause severed no purpose, and it is time to, again, disregard and move forward, accepting that, though I have qualities that are respected, it is not me who needs to address the issue.

But, I can’t. For how could I, with the look, still afresh in my memory.

For if I can deliver and achieve asylum to an complete stranger, it is laughable to appoint of verging on the ridiculous, that I can not obtain an equal quality of life, for someone who is British and a fellow LGBT, with the assistance of fellow LGBT’s.

Thus the question that has been haunting me, is, what to do regarding this issue?

The answer came through not my own deliberations but via the article in the Pink Paper

where, an (yet another) couple had been hounded out of their home through acts of homophobia, and the local constabulary had done nothing. Knowing that they would further face persecution from their local authority, which would claim and establish that they had made themselves intentionally homeless, I realized that it was time that someone did something and the issue addressed.

The reason why I am stating all this to you is, in order for a concise case to be made and put to the Minister of housing, I require the assistance of your readers, from whom I would like their own personal accounts and stories (needless to state that their confidentiality shall be respected) that can be used to challenge and establish an president for the treatment of LGBT homeless individuals, that is statutory law, and not left to individual discretion of local authorities/ councils and their employs.

where LGBT individuals who are faced with homelessness can obtain (when Finished) correct, precise and beneficial information regarding homelessness and the local Authorities obligations and duties (as the law now stands), that would provide practical , downloadable printable advise and help, insuring that

local authorise do assist LGBT clienteles and that individuals know their statutory rights, and that the relevant paperwork/ case history is available, for them to establish their claim.

In the establishment of GayandHomelessUk, it was hoped that individuals would offer and put forward practical advice that has worked for themselves, with their local authorities to obtain services and in the end to facilitate a stable home environment, as well as their own accounts that could be beneficial to the LGBT homeless user.

It is further hoped that through GayandHomeless it would ultimately be possible to establish a network of temporary accommodation for LGBT‘s that have suffered or facing homelessness due to the end of relationships, family breakups or just plain old homophobia, and ultimately provide temporary safe accommodation for vulnerable LGBT’s.

As per all other organisations/ forums/ groups that I have established, I refuse to be subjected to or accept governmental or sponsored funding, that would restrict the groups individual voice and opinion, to establish an democratic and free, unbiased system available to all LGBt individuals that find themselves in the predicament of homelessness and society and statutory laws as they stand today.

Thus as stated, it is a plea for knowledge/ experiences, that can be sent to

After I had received NO acknowledgement from the Cornwall County Council regardeing these three cases it seemed pointless proceeding with further information regarding other cases I was aware of & had had direrct involvement in....THE FACT is once again the HOMOPHOBIC police in Cornwall & the HOMOPHOBIC Cornwall Council have decided to go through the motions of a survey...whilst blatantly ignoring cases where there has been GROSS 'Failure of duty of care' & 'Neglect' by County Council employees & the vile homophobes in the Cornwall police force.

I despair!
