Exeter Homophobic Assault
By Staff Writer, PinkNews.co.uk • September 4, 2009
A young woman was kicked and punched by two teenage girls after defending her gay brother from their homophobic abuse.
Kea Clarke, 22, from Topsham, was walking with her brother Rowan through Exeter city centre between 3.30am and 4am on Sunday morning.
She told the Exeter Express and Echo the teenagers had been shouting homophobic insults at Rowan, 21.
When Clarke told them: "So what if my brother is gay?", one of the girls punched her in the face. After Clarke tried to laugh off the attack, they hit her until she fell to the ground, where they began kicking her.
When she managed to scramble to her feet to flee, an object was thrown at the back of her head.
Clarke, who was left with heavy bruising, said she was "shocked" that people could be so homophobic and added she would not go out in Exeter again.
Police are appealing for any witnesses of the attack, in Sidwell Street near St Sidwell's Church, to come forward.
The teenage girls, who Clarke believed were drunk, were both described as having dark hair.
Anyone with information should call police on 08452 777444, quoting crime reference number DE/09/9633.
PinkPasty:- My own experience when myself & Peter Lealand were seriously & violently assaulted on the evening of Flora Day in a homophobic assault Helston in 2006 and the grossly homophobic response of the the Cornwall police officers who attended the incident...
...leaves me of the factual experience that THE ONLY REASON DEVON & CORNWALL POLICE WILL BE LOOKING FOR THE ASSAILANTS in the HOMOPHOBIC INCIDENT in Exeter is probably for the police to CONGRATULATE THE ASSAILANTS!
NB:- This blog is written specifically due to direct contribution by multiple homophobic attitudes & practises, failure of 'duty of care', misconduct & or contribution to police criminality & abuse of power in abusing gay persons as contributed too by ALL of the following Devon & Cornwall Constabulary police officers to my factual knowledge & experience....DC WOODS (retired), DC SCOTT, DC ANNING, DC CROWE, DC PARKER (& his DS at Camborne), DS BECKERLEGGE, PC TAR & accomplice (Black Female Police colleague), PC FULLER, PC TRELOAR, PC ALEXANDER & Police Colleague, PC PIPER (Diversity Officer), PC CANNON (Diversity officer), Sgt. ROWE, Inspector BOLT, Inspector EASTERN (Professional Standards Unit), Various Custody officers from Camborne Police Station 2004, Three Helston Police Officers on duty Flora Day Helston 2006, Chief Constable Maria Wallis, Acting Chief Constable Arnold, Chief Constable Stephen Otter.
...This is NOT the complete list of Devon & Cornwall Police officers or employees responsible, who have contributed by their misconduct to the victimisation, violation & trauma of gay persons in Cornwall since 2004...Cornwall police abuse affects & traumatic impact which is continuing to abuse gay people by police in 2009
Cornwall Police = They ARE the abusive Homophobic Hate Crime problem
