Devon & Cornwall Police Rates of Pay
Scales of pay are agreed within Police Regulations. The pay for all ranks is decided by the Police Negotiation Board with consists of members of the Police Authority and Home Office alongside representatives of the Police Staff Associations, an independent chairmen and independent secretariat. Police pay is reviewed annually and pay awards are normally effective from 1st September. Please see chart below:

COMPENSATION FOR HOURS WORKED
5.1 Any employee who responds to an emergency call out will be paid a minimum of 4hours at the appropriate rate of pay for each period of attendance.
5.2 A period of attendance begins at the time of the call out and continues until
completion of the task. The call out payment will cover a second call out in the
same four hour period. Any return journey time should be aggregated as part of the call out.
5.3 The hourly rate of pay will be at Scale 6 spinal point 26 for all hours worked as a volunteer (as at September 2005 equivalent to £10.82 per hour). If a volunteer’s
current salary is beyond spinal point 26 they will be paid at their current spinal
point including any enhancements due.
5.4 Where an individual works in their volunteer role during their normal working
hours, the individual must record the number of hours worked and in what capacity on the claim form, in order to receive payment at Scale 6 spinal point 26.
5.5 The hours worked will be paid at plain time up to the completion of 37 hours per
week. Thereafter the appropriate enhanced rates of pay will apply. For calculation
purposes the working week will start from Sunday 00:01 to midnight the following
Saturday.
5.6 Overtime payments will be paid at Scale 6 spinal point 26 at the prevailing hourly rate.

6. UNSOCIABLE HOURS
6.1 Individuals who have not completed 37 hours per week and who work as a
volunteer between 20.00 and 06.00 will receive an enhancement at one third of the
hourly rate (as at September 2005 £3.60 per hour). If a volunteer’s current salary is
beyond spinal point 26 they will be paid at the relevant enhanced rate applicable to
their spinal point.

Police Pay Demand Rally in London
This from the B.B.C.
Council tax increase for police Devon and Cornwall Police is to increase the amount of money it gets through council tax by almost 8%.
It is above the government's recommendation of 5% and means taxpayers will pay on average an extra 20p a week for police.
For a band D property the increase represents an extra charge of just over £10 a year.
Chief Constable Steven Otter said the extra revenue will mean an additional 200 officers on the beat.
BUT, are LGBT tax payers getting value for money and fair policing?
