An Update:
Homophobic Cornwall Police & arrest of Cornwall LGBT Gay PRIDE steering group member.
The gay member of the Cornwall PRIDE steering Group, arrested in August just days before Cornwall Gay PRIDE beach day at Hayle, has been informed Cornwall police have at last finally finalised the case and there is No Further Action. The gay person was charged with NO offence but whose life has been abused, irreparably damaged by the false allegation and prejudicial homophobic policing attitudes of Cornwall police.
The negative impact upon the gay person, their family, friends, and wider gay community due to false allegation and also homophobic attitudes and animosity prevalent by Cornwall police officers towards gay persons has caused fear and trauma within sectors of the Cornwall gay population.
Increasingly gay people in Cornwall are becoming aware there is little honesty, integrity, impartiality and transparency of conduct operative throughout the Cornwall police force in the manor in which police continue to treat gay persons who are victims of crime or accused of a crime.
It is some gay persons experience in Cornwall that (criminal?) homophobic attitudes and practises remain endemic and widespread as commonplace practise throughout the Cornwall police force. This continuing problem is blind-eyed by local police Authority and white washed by the professional Standards unit. The police equality & diversity unit spouts worthless platitudes, which are simply disregarded by the local Truro BCU Cornwall police force. Leaving gay people vulnerable to continued police abuses and violations of their lives, both social and economic, as has been experienced by some gay persons in Cornwall.
The Gay Person falsely accused has made an immediate formal complaint to the IPCC regarding several separate incidents of homophobic conduct & behaviour by Cornwall police officers:-
1. Cornwall Police refused to interview two adult gay/bi defence witnesses regarding the case. Police also refused to interview an adult gay eyewitness regarding a further incident of attempted blackmail.
2. Cornwall Police also chose to ignore physical evidence during the police raid on the falsely accused person’s home. (Evidence immediately passed to the defence solicitor upon the suspects release from police detention over 16 hours)
3. Police also knew the false allegation was withdrawn by the accuser over two months ago, but police have continued with deliberate persecution of the gay person accused and the wider gay community by effect. This has become part of a continuing Cornwall police vendetta targeting some gay persons in Cornwall started by police in 2004. Aspects of this earlier homophobic police conduct resulted in the Independent Police Complaints Commission making twenty-two recommendations of needed improvement in Public service by Devon & Cornwall constabulary in 2006. However, the IPCC recommendations have made NO difference to endemic homophobia within the Cornwall police force.
4. Police were also advised, but ignored that there were text messages from the accuser to a number of people admitting the accusation they had made was false.
5. Despite several people equally involved in lawful activity and witness to events, police chose to arrest ONLY an openly gay person out of the group (This is not the first time homophobic Cornwall police have targeted specifically only an openly gay person amongst a group of people engaging in lawful activity).
The Cornwall police response after the gay person had been notified the case was finalised was to immediately send round two police officers (a DC & DS) to the gay persons home to further intimidate and violate his life in an off the record un-logged visit. This was most threatening!
The problem of continuing deeply homophobic attitudes and conduct prevalent towards gay persons within and throughout the Cornwall police force is of grave genuine concern. Gay people in Cornwall have more to fear regarding continuing homophobic conduct of Cornwall police officers than that of prejudicial hate crime & violence committed by members of the public.
As a gay person living in Cornwall I express NO trust and NO faith in this Cornwall police force which I personally, believe to be corrupt and prejudicial regarding gay issues and have personally experienced and observed is rife with homophobic practises and attitudes throughout the police ranks.
As police are now entirely unaccountable through criminal proceedings for the deaths, abuse, and violations of members of the public carried out by police officers, as clearly demonstrated by the shooting dead of an innocent Brazilian in London.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is a toothless, lap dog poodle with the effectiveness of public protection of police abuses of a chocolate fireguard. I ask how long before Cornwall police publicly execute someone in a similar manor as the unfortunate Brazilian De Menzies was (I personally believe was murdered by police) shot dead by London police and according to EVERY single witness on the tube train, without any warning?
It remains my opinion based upon my personal experiences and observation that the most likely person to commit a violating homophobically motivated criminal offence in Cornwall against me, as a gay person
…is a Cornwall police officer.
